Why use an eSIM in France?
Most trips to France run on data from the first hour. You will look up the RER B timetable from Charles de Gaulle (CDG) into central Paris, show a timed Louvre or Eiffel Tower ticket on your phone, follow Citymapper through Métro interchanges and translate a menu or two. Airport counters at CDG and Orly (ORY) do sell prepaid SIMs, but the queue lands right after a long-haul flight and prices there sit above what the same operators charge in city shops, where you will usually be asked for ID to register the SIM. A home-carrier roaming pack works, yet it is metered by the day and bought before you know how long you will really stay. A prepaid data eSIM installed at home solves all of that: you land in Paris, Nice or Lyon, switch the eSIM on, and your phone is online before you reach passport control. Your own number stays live for calls and bank OTPs on the other SIM slot.
