Few destinations depend on a working phone quite like Morocco does. You are navigating the Marrakech medina where the lanes do not match any printed map, agreeing a Careem or inDrive fare rather than haggling at the kerb, translating Darija and French signage, and messaging a riad owner who will send someone to meet you because the address is unfindable. Local SIMs from Maroc Telecom, Orange or Inwi are widely sold and the counters at Mohammed V Airport (CMN) and Marrakech Menara (RAK) are easy to find, but they take your passport details and a slice of your first hour. The classic Morocco route — Marrakech, a night in the Sahara near Merzouga, Fes, then Chefchaouen or the coast — runs eight to twelve days and is heavier on data than people expect, because navigation is constant and you will send a lot of photographs.
